Wayne F. Shannon, 77, of Dallas PA, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Born in Newark, he lived in Iselin before moving to Dallas, Pennsylvania.

Wayne served in the United States Navy as Corpsman with the Marines, ECHO/2/9, in Vietnam in 1968. He was a talented and successful carpenter, and owned his own construction business. He was a member of the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. Also, he volunteered as an EMT for Harvey’s Lake Fire Company in Pennsylvania.

Wayne was a remarkably strong person, inside and out, a devoted father, brother, son, grandfather, and great-grandfather who possessed a huge, unconditional love for his family. His last wishes were for his family to know how much he loves each of them. He was dedicated and hardworking in every aspect of life, he served with distinction in his career with the military and in carpentry.

He is predeceased by his son Wayne R. Shannon (d. 2015), his father Chester Shannon, his mother and step-father Elaine (Kraut) and Jeffrey Venosa, and his sister Gail Shannon.

Surviving are his brother Chester Shannon (Deborah) of Edison; his sister Elaine Lindner (Timothy) of Colonia; his granddaughters Kasandra, Shaylee and Adele Shannon; his great grandchildren Waylan and Jamie Barnes; his nieces and nephews Jane Carroll (Tom), Mary Ellen Guida (Joey), William Shannon, Elaine Polites, Lisa Bogdan, Steven Young, Victoria Bowler, Alyssa Sarno (Anthony) and Tim Lindner; also surviving are 10 grand nieces and nephews.

He will be deeply missed, from his one of a kind laugh to the memories that made his mark on our hearts.

A Visitation for friends and family will be Thursday, August 20th, from 4:00-7:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St, at Riva Ave, Milltown. A Navy honors will be held during the visitation at 6:15 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion.
