Wayne Otis Johnson

October 25, 1964 — June 13, 2021

Wayne Otis Johnson was born on October 25, 1964 to Cleophus & Audrey Johnson-Boyd, in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He transitioned from his labor to reward on June 13, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. He was 56 years old.

Otis, Big "O", "Sito" or "Romeo", as he was known, attended and graduated from the New Brunswick Public School system. He also attended Middlesex County College. He was formerly employed by Permacel, Home Life Insurance, OCE/Archer, and Pitney Bowes. At the time of his death he was employed by CMS/Scholastic Publishing Company, New York. NY.

Otis married the love of his life, Sherry Marie Denson, on November 19, 2016. They became affectionately known as "Shotis".

Otis was a loving husband and dad. There was nothing he would not do for his Sherry Marie. Aiesha Monique and "the grands" were the light of his life and he had absolutely no problem letting anyone know. His love for family was immeasurable. He made time for everyone and offered words of encouragement and advice. He was everyone's favorite uncle, brother, brother-in-law and boss. He was his mom's "pancake buddy" making sure that he came and had pancakes, especially the burnt ones, every Saturday. He was an avid sports fan and should have been an analyst on ESPN. He loved everything New York, especially the Nets, Mets and Jets. He enjoyed a good cigar, and hanging with the fellas. He never met a stranger. He loved the "Class of 82" and would never miss a function. His personality was magnetic and people were drawn to him.

Otis was predeceased by his father, Cleophus Boyd, Sr.; two brothers, Claude Johnson and Tyrone Johnson; two sisters, Claudia Johnson and Wanda Johnson; 3 nephews, Robert Johnson, Kenyatta Demings and Rakeem Johnson and one niece, Michaela Johnson.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sherry Denson Johnson; daughter Aiesha Johnson-Blount (Prince) and her mom Elizabeth "Sissy" Beale; mother, Audrey Johnson-Boyd; siblings, Cleophus Boyd, Jr. (Jan) Detroit, MI; Velma Boyd- Demings (Robert) East Tawas, MI; Darryl Fields (Janice), New Castle, DE; Portia Williams, Lawrenceville, NJ; Gregory Boyd (Dawn) Houston, TX; Anita Johnson, New Brunswick, NJ; Zachary Boyd (Renate), Geneva, Switzerland; LaRiesa Turner Croft (Mark), West Bloomfield, MI; Sandra Johnson, Franklin Park, NJ and Erycka Johnson-Saunders (Michael), Piscataway, NJ; four grandchildren, Jahyir Wynns, Jalysse Wynns, Prince Blount, Jr., Alaiya Blount and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great–great nieces, great-great nephews, cousins, and friends. There are not enough words to describe what Otis meant. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
