Thomas F. O'Shea

July 9, 1937 — July 17, 2020

Thomas F. O'Shea, Sr., formerly of Highland Park, passed away Friday, July 17, 2020. He was 83.

Born in New Brunswick, he lived in Highland Park most of his life, before moving to Manahawkin fifteen years ago. He was a 1956 graduate of St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick. He earned his bachelor's degree in business in just three years from Seton Hall University.

From his early years as a teacher at Notre Dame HS in NJ, his time in the financial industry with Merrill Lynch, and as a Pilot with commuter airline Air-Spur, Tom fully enjoyed his life, family, and friends. Later on, he especially enjoyed travelling the country as an owner operator in the trucking industry for many years.

He also enjoyed adding to his coin collection, and was an avid reader. Along with his family, Tom was a true Rutgers fan for decades…and a season ticket holder for both RU Football and Basketball for many years.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Arleen (Simcsak) O'Shea; his sons Thomas F. O'Shea Jr., and his wife Reetta of Highland Park, and Mark O'Shea of Somerset; his grandson Ryan O'Shea; his sister Rosemarie Eckert & Raymond Alonzo of Manahawkin; Brother-in-law & sister-in-law Jack & Carolyn Simcsak of Pawley's Island, SC, and several nieces and nephews.

A Life Celebration Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, July 26th, 1:00 pm, at the Shark River Yacht Club, 1 Seaview Circle Neptune, NJ, www.thesharkriveryachtclub.com . Arrangements are by The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Please sign the online condolence "guestbook" for the family at www.crabiel.com
