Thomas G. Kwietniak, of Milltown, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Capitol Health at Deborah in Browns Mills. He was 74 years old. Born in Brooklyn, he was raised in Edison and graduated from Edison High School and Bloomfield College. He has lived in Milltown since 1983.

After 33 years, Tom retired in 2010 from the State of New Jersey – Department of Labor, in the Division of Unemployment. A very spiritual person, he was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown and a member of their Knights of Columbus Council 7250. He also taught CCD for many years.

He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with the Tuesday retirees and the Thursday Golf League. He was a long-suffering, yet faithful, Giants fan who enjoyed watching from his favorite recliner, as well as the occasional in person viewing.

Tom was especially proud of being one of the top hatted “Ground Hog Wranglers” for our sorely missed, Milltown Mel.  As a lover of the sea, he cherished his time at the Jersey shore, especially rocking in the chairs on the Sea Girt boardwalk. He looked forward to going on vacations with his family.

Full of life, he loved talking with strangers, as if they were old friends. He was the, “Go to Guy,” the sounding board and giver of advice. Because he loved his family more than anything, he was their constant champion. Playing with his grandson, Tommy, gave him immense joy, and he was affectionately known as Dziadzia (Polish for Grandpa). Tom has left a void beyond measure and will be deeply missed.

He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Jean Kwietniak, his brother Peter Kwietniak, his brothers-in-law, Gene Kochevar and Arthur Morris, and his nephews Joseph and Brian Shafer.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 44 years, Mary (Newman) Kwietniak; his daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Sean Quinn of Milltown; his beloved grandson, Tommy; his sisters Helen Kochevar of Milltown and Alice Morris of North Brunswick. He was also a loving uncle and godfather.

Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, April 22nd, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St. at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, North Main St. in Milltown. Burial will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery in Sea Girt.
