Sylvia Weg

March 19, 1924 — February 8, 2021

Sylvia Weg, a survivor of the Holocaust, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at Madison Crossing in Freehold. She was 96.

Born in Loket, Czechoslovakia, she lived in Jackson Heights, Queens, and Sunrise, FL before moving to Freehold.

Sylvia was a Holocaust survivor, spending time in Auschwitz. She lost both parents and four brothers in the Holocaust. She and her sister and two brothers survived.

Sylvia was a seamstress and a lifetime Hadassah member.

She's predeceased by her husband Jack Weg (d. 2018), along with her parents, and her brothers and sister.

Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Allen Weg and Nadine Ellias-Weg, of East Brunswick, her daughter Marilyn Weg Starr of S. Windsor, CT; and her four grandchildren Devin Starr of Phoenix, Jordan Starr of Manchester, CT, Ethan Weg of East Brunswick and Arielle Weg of NYC.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, 11:30 am, at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. Contributions may be made in Sylvia's name to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.
