Sylvia L. Adochio, formerly of Milltown, passed away Thursday January 2, 2025 at her home in Rossmoor. She was 89 years old. Born in Milltown, raised in East Brunswick, she and her late husband Spike, moved back to Milltown and spent winters enjoying Las Vegas. She moved to Rossmoor section of Monroe Twp. Four years ago.
She worked at Transcriptions Ltd. As a proofreader of medical records for many years, later retiring from the New Brunswick Pediatric Group. Sylvia was a lifelong parishioner of St. Paul’s Church in Milltown. She enjoyed traveling, was an avid Bingo player, trips to the casino’s, sitting at the beach at Seaside Park, knitting, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles playing cards, Yahtzee, and visiting with family and friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband John “Spike” Adochio (d.2016), her parents Albert and Yolanda (Barus) Schickner, and her siblings Louise Hipko and Albert “Sonny” Schickner.
Surviving are her devoted children, Susan Desmond (Kevin) of North Brunswick, Joan Corbett (Jim) of Monroe Twp., and John Adochio of Monroe Twp., her 6 grandchildren Matthew Desmond (Erika), Joanna Desmond, Christine D’Angelo (Mike), James Corbett (Betsy), Jackie Kapoor (Nikhil) and Michael Castellano, and 7 great grandchildren Matthew and Miles Desmond, Jackson and Layla D’Angelo, Charlie, Reagan and Dylan Corbett: many nieces and nephews who brought her joy by visiting with sweet treats and staying in touch with her.
Sylvia is also survived by her most devoted, compassionate, and much-loved caregiver of 9 years Marina Jachvadze. Marina’s care contributed to the longevity and enjoyment of Sylvia’s extended life and the family will be forever grateful to her.
A visitation for friends and relatives will be Thursday January 9th, from 3:00 - 7:00 pm at the Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St. at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Cremation will be private. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 16th, 11:30 am, at the American Legion Post 25, 4 JFK Dr., Milltown
