Samuel Andrew Sirna of Spotswood NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 26, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was 94 yrs old.
He was born at home in Edison NJ to loving Parents of Sicilian decent, Pasquale and Francesca (Natale) Sirna. He lived in East Brunswick before moving to Spotswood.
As a US Army Combat Riffle Man, he severed in Europe during WWII. After the war he met and married the love of his life Ruth Armhold. They had 63 happy years together before she passed in 2011.
Sam was a faithful parishioner of St Thomas The Apostle Church in Old Bridge, an active member of the VFW, and an avid card player. He enjoyed gardening, classical and popular 1940's music, playing bocci ball, trips to Atlantic City, playing the lottery and most of all family gatherings.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth (Armhold) Sirna (d. 2011), his son Thomas Sirna (d. 2000) and his grandsons Patrick and Andrew Sirna.
Surviving are his children, Samuel G Sirna of South Amboy, Evelyn Sirna of Spotswood, Terri Katona (husband Gregory) of Jamesburg and Susan VanAsdale (husband Paul) of Salisbury Mills, NY; 8 grandchildren: Jeremy Miller, Scott Brueckner, Daniel Miller (Christine), Jessica Sirna, TJ (Thomas) Sirna, Stephanie Lopez (Jon), Christina Sabin (Tim), Emma Brueckner; and 4 great grandchildren: Mya Lynn Miller, Micheal Rojewski, Breana Leigh Miller, Wyatt Rojewski.
Friends and relatives may call on Friday, February 28th, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 9:00 am, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge. Entombment will be private at a later date.
