Ronald J. Loftus, formerly of Milltown, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022 at home. He was 87.
Born in New Brunswick, he lived in Milltown for over 40 years. He resided in Ocean Beach Unit 3, before moving to Edison 5 years ago.
He served in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Before retiring he was an account executive for LTL Trucking Carriers.
Ron was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown. He was past District Deputy and Past Exalted Ruler of New Brunswick Elks Lodge 324. He was a Rutgers Basketball, NY Giants and Yankees fan. He enjoyed playing golf and loved the Jersey Shore.
He's predeceased by his wife Elizabeth A. (Wenzel) Loftus (d. Dec 2021), his daughters Colleen Loftus (d. 1998) and Kathleen Malinconico (d. Sept, 2021), his parents Vincent and Louisa Loftus, his brother Vincent R. Loftus, Jr. and his sister Dorothy Costello.
Surviving is his daughter and son-in-law Eileen and Christopher Jennings of Avenel; his son-in-law Salvatore Malinconico of Edison; his grandchildren Meghan (Patrick) Murphy, Michael LaPlaga (fiancée Allison Chapman), Jillian and Christopher Jennings, Michael (Melissa) Malinconico and Nicole (Raymond) Lalley; and 8 great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, July 13th from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Mass will be held on Thursday, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, North Main St., Milltown. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick.
