Ronald DeVito passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. He was 74. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he lived in Staten Island and the Parlin section of Sayreville, NJ, before moving to Silver Spring, MD, 39 years ago.
He was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War Era. He worked as a contractor for the Department of Defense at Ft. Meade, MD, before retiring in 2020.
Ron was active in the Deaf Community and he was proficient in sign language. He also was an inventor and, along with his friend Michael Garguilo, he received a patent for a scent producing apparatus for forced air systems.
He's predeceased by his father Dominick DeVito, his mother and step-father Catherine (Miraglia) and James J. Meaney, Sr., and his brother Joseph DeVito.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 39 years, Christine (Franken) DeVito; his sons Erik and Michael DeVito of Maryland and Thomas DeVito of North Carolina; his grandchildren Olivia, Anthony and Jason DeVito of Maryland; and his brothers James J. Meaney Jr. of Florida and Lance Meaney of North Carolina.
Ron will also be remembered as a cherished uncle by his many beloved nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, February 23rd, from 4:00 â 8:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 North Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, 10:00 am, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 100 Main St., Helmetta, NJ. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick, NJ.
