Robert L. Kolesar Sr., of North Brunswick, passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 peacefully at home at the age of 85 surrounded by his family. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, affectionately known as "Pop-Pop".
Born in Perth Amboy, he lived in Edison before moving to North Brunswick in 1977. He served in the United States Air Force from 1954–1958.
Bob was a dedicated employee at Engelhard in Menlo Park for more than 25 years and retired in 1997. In retirement he continued his passion for computer programing and technology. He was originally a parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church (member of the Saturday Morning Crew) and for the last decade was a proud parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown.
He is predeceased by his sweetheart of 60 years, Joan (Joyce) Kolesar (d. 2018), his grandson Ryan Youngman (d. 2008), and his brother Thomas Kolesar (d. 2015).
Surviving are his children, Kathleen Youngman (Stephen) of North Brunswick; Robert L. Kolesar, Jr. (Cathy) of North Brunswick; Anne-Marie O'Shea (Thomas) of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren, Bryan (Katie), Kevin (Kae), Bridget, Kelli, Kristen, Mary-Kate (Paul), Sean, Colleen, Robert III, Tim (Anne), Tara; great-grandchildren, Carly, Andrew, Noah, and Evan O'Shea, Jake and Addison Gilbert; his brother William Kolesar of Monmouth Jct.; his brother-in-law John Joyce of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, November 23rd, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.–at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 24th, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
