Robert Johnson

July 20, 1950 — February 6, 2025

Robert "Bobby" Johnson, 74, of Edison, N.J. passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson hospital in New Brunswick after a long period of medical challenges.

Bobby was born on July 20, 1950, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey. He was educated in local schools and graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1968. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served 41 of his 48 months in the Far East splitting his time between Okinawa and Taiwan. After being discharged Bobby enrolled in Middlesex County Community College and Pace University graduating at the top of his class with a degree in accounting. After a short stint in public accounting, Bobby became an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and opened his own tax consulting business which flourished for over 40 years.

Bobby was a devoted N.Y. Giants, N.Y. Knicks and N.Y. Mets super fan and rarely missed a televised game. He was also an avid surf and deep-sea fisherman and enjoyed summers crabbing at his brother's house in Toms River where countless crabs fell victim to his incredible trapping skills. Bobby also enjoyed playing slots at casinos in Atlantic City. He was what one could call a Corvette Kind of Guy having owned four of them and would enjoy nothing more than tooling down the highway listing to the Blues.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Maria Johnson, his brother-in-law Jim Catalano and his Godson and nephew Jeffrey Johnson. He is survived by his life partner Tina Jin, with whom he spent 18 happy and wonderful years and her son Tom; his brother Johnny and sister-in-law Mary Ann Johnson of Little Egg Harbor; his nephew Jonathan Johnson and his sister Nancy Catalano.

Bobby was admired and respected by all who knew him. He was a kind, generous and loving person who will be missed beyond measure.
