Robert J. Davey Jr, of Milltown, passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, September 9, 2020. He was 55.
Born in Irvington, he grew up in North Plainfield before moving to Milltown, New Jersey 20 years ago.
Bob was an accountant for Huston Lumber & Supply in North Plainfield off and on for 25 years.
A sports enthusiast, Bob loved coaching Milltown Little League baseball, where he was on the Board of Directors. He coached the boys through the Milltown Recreational League in basketball and baseball. He also coached Our Lady of Lourdes basketball in Milltown. He was a diehard Mets fan and enjoyed watching many sports with his friends and boys. He had fond memories of seeing the Mets play throughout the region.
While growing up in North Plainfield, he and his friends were "unofficial members "of the Italian American Club. He enjoyed going to many concerts with his buddies, especially U2, the Cure and Buffet.
Later on, with his family, he loved going to Point Pleasant, Hilton Head, Surf Taco, Jimmy Buffet concerts and just spending time on family vacations.
He's predeceased by his father Robert J. Davey, Sr.
Surviving is his wife Kim (Schmitt) Davey of 23 years and their sons Kyle and Connor; his mother Virginia (Gibson) Davey of North Plainfield; his sister Cheryl Davey and her husband JD Hood of Vancouver, WA; and many cousins, 3 nieces and a nephew.
A Life Celebration Memorial Service and Gathering will be held Friday, September 25, 2020, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St-at Riva Avenue, Milltown.
