Richard Canto

Richard Canto, of Milltown, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 80 years old.

Richard is a long-time resident of Milltown, New Jersey. He was born in Union City and the son of Richard and Mary Canto.

He attended the Academy of Advanced Traffic and worked for AT&T and Lucent Technologies. Following his retirement, he was a crossing guard for the Milltown School District.

As a hobby, Richard was a wood turner and enjoyed showing his trade at different craft shows.

He is predeceased by his son Michael Canto (d. 2020), his parents Richard and Mary Canto, and his siblings Louis Canto, Thomas Canto, Jean Poole and Rachel Rhodes.

Richard is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda Canto, his son Richard M. Canto of Milltown, and his beloved grandchildren.

A Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, October 16th, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 11:00 am, at St. Bartholomew RC Church in East Brunswick. Cremation will be private.
