Richard Gerald Baer passed away peacefully at his home in North Brunswick, NJ, on Monday morning surrounded by his loving family. He was 84 years old.
Richard was born in Orange, NJ and raised in West Orange. He graduated from West Orange High School in 1959 and went on to Bloomfield College where he graduated in 1964 with a B.A. degree in Accounting and Business Management. He lived in Somerset for over 20 years, before moving to North Brunswick.
He worked in retail for 42 years, becoming a manager in 1973 with Foodtown Supermarkets. He retired as a Receiving Manager from Stop and Shop in 2002.
Richard enjoyed gardening and swimming. He loved visiting the lighthouses and ocean at Montauk, NY, and Avalon, NJ, with his beloved dog and faithful companion Rocky. He was also a big fan of muscle cars.
Richard was predeceased by his wife Geraldine Baer (d. 2020), his parents Richard L. Baer of Avalon, NJ and Heroldyn Baer of West Orange, NJ; by his brother Jeffrey H. Baer of Toms River; and by his favorite aunt and uncle Royal H. and Margaret Dorn of New York.
He is survived by his loving and devoted son Carlos Arciniega-Baer and daughter-in-law Reinalda of North Brunswick, NJ; by his three grandsons Edgardo, Mitchell (Lydia), and Jesus Larry (Catey); and by his great-grandson Benjamin.
A Visitation for relatives and friends will be held on Friday, April 24th, from 10:00 am – 11:30 am, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral Service and entombment will follow at 12 noon, at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. You may sign the online condolence “guestbook” at www.crabiel.com
