Rene Rachel Verghese, a resident of Skillman, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Penn Medical Center in Plainsboro, at the age of 55. Originally from Paduthodu, Kerala, India, she immigrated to the United States in 2001.
Rene held the position of Partner at Schulman Lobel, a public accounting and advisory firm, where she managed the New Jersey office. She earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Stella Maris College, and an MBA from Madras University, and held a CPA License in New Jersey.
A devoted parishioner of St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church in East Brunswick, Rene was known for her warm and energetic personality, with an infectious smile that brought joy to those around her. Her family, particularly her children Nikhil and Neha, held a special place in her heart. She enjoyed gardening, exploring new cuisines, painting, and traveling. Her home stands as a testament to her keen sense of design and her passion for interior decoration. Rene was very social and loved making new friends. She took pleasure in hosting gatherings for friends and family at her home.
Surviving her is her loving husband, George Thomas, and their children, Nikhil and Neha Thomas. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved mother, Mary Varughese, her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Swapna Varughese of Bangalore, India, and her sister and brother-in-law, Anu and Abraham Philip of Dubai, UAE. Rene also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a Visitation on Thursday, March 7th, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church, 423 Dunham’s Corner Road, East Brunswick, NJ 08816. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 9th, at 9:30 am at St. Stephen’s Mar Thoma Church, followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
