Perry D. Pernice

June 26, 1921 — October 16, 2017

Perry D. Pernice, of Monroe Twp., passed away Monday, October 16, 2017 at home. She was 96. Born in Calestano, Italy, she came to the United States as a young child, and resided in Brooklyn, Milltown and East Brunswick before moving to Monroe Twp. 27 years ago.
She graduated from the Katherine Gibbs Business School. During WWII, she worked for a defense plant in NYC.
Perry was a member of the East Brunswick Women's Club. She was a former communicant of both Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown, and St. Bartholomew's RC Church in East Brunswick.
An avid golfer, she would play at Tamarack Golf Course in East Brunswick and Sugar Mill Country Club in New Smyrna Beach, FL, where she and her late husband Peter had a home. Peter and Perry were a very social couple, who loved dancing, traveling and entertaining.
She was a volunteer for Middlesex General Hospital (now RWJ Hospital), and enjoyed reading, ceramics, painting and playing Rummy Cube.
Perry is predeceased by her husband Giovanni Peter Pernice (d. 2012); her parents Ernest and Mary Silvani; and her brother Edmund Silvani.
Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Peter E. and Lynne Pernice of Chestfield; her daughters and son-in-laws, Linda and Robert Hudacsko of Bridgewater and Diane and David Shelcusky of Kendall Park; her 9 grandchildren – Michelle Baxter, Michael and David Hudacsko, Brady, Derek and Cody Shelcusky, Adam and Desiree Pernice, and Collin Borow; and 9 great grandchildren – Gianna, Madelyn, Matthew, Brady, Tyler, Neve, Rose, Owen and Kira
A Mass will be held on Saturday, October 21st, 10:00 am, at St. Bartholomew RC Church, 470 Ryders Lane, East Brunswick. Burial will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Colonia. Friends and relatives may call on Friday, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org . You may sign the online "guestbook" at www.crabiel.com
