Paul M. Asmar, of Somerset, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 57.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to Somerset in 1994.
He was a parishioner of St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Somerset, where his father Monsignor Maroun Asmar served as pastor. He helped his father with ushering during the masses.
Paul was employed by Raritan Valley Workshop, Easter Seals NJ until he retired in 2016. During his employment there he won "Employee of the Year Award". He was also a participant and active member of the Special Olympics for over 40 years.
He loved bowling and Elvis Presley.
He is predeceased by his mother Genevieve Asmar and his sister-in-law Brenda Asmar.
Surviving is his devoted father Monsignor Maroun Asmar of Lebanon, his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Charles Smith of North Brunswick, his brother Peter Asmar of Cary, NC and four nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were private. Due to COVID-19, there will be a Mass at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church at a later date. Burial was at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway.
