Odette T. Welding died peacefully at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital on Wednesday, August 16th after a brief illness. She was 90 years old and celebrated this milestone at a party with family and friends in Jackson in April. Odette was predeceased by her husband, Arthur T. Welding and her parents, William and Josephine Tromeur.
Odette was born and lived most of her life in Milltown, New Jersey where her parents had emigrated to from France. She had a vacation residence in West Palm Beach, Florida and moved to Jackson, New Jersey about 20 years ago.
Odette was a graduate of New Brunswick High School and worked for over 30 years as an executive secretary in the corporate office of Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick. She was involved in community activities in Milltown, was a long-time member of the Red Hat Society and remained active until her last days. She enjoyed travel, having cruised to France with her mother on the Queen Elizabeth when in her early 20's, and especially her trips to Atlantic City.
To her friends, Odette was known as "Frenchy" and to her eight nieces and nephews, Aunt Odette. She will be missed by all.
A Mass will be held on Friday, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, Milltown. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, East Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St-at Riva Avenue, Milltown.
