Michael A. Sgro
April 9, 1964 — June 24, 2022
Michael "Butcher Blackwell" Sgro, of Hightstown, passed away Friday, June 24, 2022 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 58. Born in New Brunswick, he lived in Milltown most of his life, before moving to Hightstown 5 years ago.
Mike was a retired professional wrestler known as The Butcher. He was a big music fan especially his love for the Beatles. He loved going out for karoke every week with friends and playing his guitar. He was a fantastic harmonica player.
He's predeceased by his parents Anthony Sgro and Veronica (Nyers) Sgro-Shehade; his grandparents Carmine and Elizabeth Sgro and Mary Nyers, his baby sister Toni Marie Sgro, and his brother-in-law Dale B. Capoccia.
Surviving is his sisters Cindy Capoccia (Stanley Homsher) of Hightstown and Mary (Robert) Bowman of Rock Hill, SC; his nephew RJ Bowman of Rock Hill, SC; his niece Jaclyn Bowman of Rock Hill, SC, his stepfather Elie Shehade of East Brunswick and his fiancé Sandy Ferrebee of Troy, NY.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, July 1st, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Blessing will be held during the visitation on Friday, at 6:30 pm. Burial of cremated remains will be private at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick.
