Michael Johnson

Michael Johnson, was born on June 6, 1949 in Newark, New Jersey to the late Willard and Mabel (Allen) Johnson. He passed away April 23, 2020 at East Orange Veterans Medical Center in East Orange, New Jersey. He was seventy years old.
Michael Johnson, or Mike as he was more commonly known, graduated from Weequahic High School in 1967 in Newark, New Jersey.
Michael served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. He worked for East Orange VA Medical Center for ten years.
He enjoyed playing the drums, Chess, and attending various Drum & Bugle Corps events.
He is survived by his daughter Tanya LaBerth Johnson; one brother James A. Johnson; (wife – Velma Johnson); four sisters Rose Johnson; Sandra Johnson; Joyce Shells; and Mary Gore; and one predeceased brother Willard Johnson, Jr. as well as a host of nephews, nieces, and friends. He was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.
Entombment of his cremated remains will take place at a later date at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Park in Wrightstown, New Jersey. Arrangements are by the Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St. at Riva Ave., Milltown, New Jersey. You may sign the online condolence "guestbook" at www.crabiel.com.
