Mary (Higgins) Taormina, of North Brunswick, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. She was 71. Born in New Brunswick to the late Edward and Mary (Ola) Higgins, she lived in Somerset before moving to North Brunswick 47 years ago.
She had loved her job working at Silver Fox Sweet Shop in New Brunswick before retiring in 2000 after 35 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in North Brunswick.
Mary was predeceased by her brothers Edward, Walter and Daniel Higgins, and her sisters Marilyn O'Brien and Veronica Jenkins.
Surviving is her loving husband of 51 years, Jack Taormina; her son Thomas Taormina (Daria) of East Windsor, her daughter Kelli Williams (Greg) of Milltown; her beloved grandchildren who were the lights of her life, Ava, Antonia, Mia and Dean; her brothers Thomas Higgins of Boca Raton, FL and Richard Higgins of Burlington; her sisters Sally Maurer of Somerset, Patricia Riczu of Milltown, Teresa Cupano of Toms River, Linda Sala of South Plainfield and Laura Finlaw of Freehold; and many loving nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Friends and relatives may call on Saturday, February 26th, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St. at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Blessing will be held during the visitation at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Haven Hospice at JFK or St. Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org.
