Mary A. Lynch, of Milltown, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 31, 2024. She was 76. Born and raised in Perth Amboy, she moved to Milltown 51 years ago.
Mary began her educational career as a professor of Business Administration and later transitioned to teaching English as a Second Language at Middlesex County College, where she influenced countless lives until her retirement in 2015. Witnessing her students succeed and thrive brought her a sense of pride.
Mary earned her Bachelor's degree from Montclair State University, followed by two Master's degrees from the College of New Jersey (formerly Trenton State) and Kean University. Her commitment to education extended beyond the classroom; she served as the past president of the New Jersey Business Education Association and was honored as Alumnus of the Year from Middlesex College.
A devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown, Mary was past president of the Altar Rosary Society, a lector, and a former CCD teacher. Giving back to her community was a cornerstone of her life; she organized the annual food drive at Our Lady of Lourdes and volunteered at the food pantry at Middlesex College.
Mary was also a wonderful cook and baker, with baking breads to share with family and friends as her way of showing love. Thanksgiving was her favorite holiday to host her family.
Mary and her devoted husband, Bob, shared 52 beautiful years together as they traveled extensively, enjoying adventures in Europe, river cruises, and exploring the National Parks. They loved going out to dinner and dancing, creating cherished memories along the way.
She was immensely proud of her grandchildren, they were her greatest joy. She loved attending their sporting events and plays. Mary cherished hearing about their school days and work, and she was always eager to help them with homework or study for tests. She will always be their biggest cheerleader.
She’s predeceased by her parents Walter and Mary (Kilar) Niedbala, and her brother Frank Niedbala (d. 2010).
Surviving is her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert Lynch; her son Brian Lynch (Kristen) of Nazareth PA; her daughter Cathy Carroll (Doug) of Colonia, her loving grandchildren Alex, Julia, Jilliann, Keira and Madeline; her twin sister Patricia Bixel of Edison, and her many nieces and nephews.
