Lorraine Schuld, of Monroe Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She was 86. Born and raised in Staten Island, New York, she raised her family in Fords, New Jersey, then moved to North Brunswick, before settling in Monroe twenty years ago.
Upon graduating New Dorp High School, she started her working life as a telephone operator for NY Bell, and would go on to have multiple administrative assistant jobs in the medical and technical research fields before finally retiring at age 75. She was also a realtor and owned a jewelry and gift store, "Rainbow's End," in Rahway, NJ for years. She was a parishioner of Nativity of Our Lord Church in Monroe.
Lorraine's creative talent knew no bounds. She excelled at painting, crochet, knitting, sewing, needlepoint and cross stitch, and showered her friends and family with her handmade gifts. She was devoted to her twelve grandchildren and kept them dressed in beautiful handmade sweaters, and would even sew custom Halloween costumes for them and herself, and join them Trick-or-Treating. She loved attending all of the grandkids sporting events and theatrical performances, especially Kathleen's singing gigs, where she'd hush restaurant patrons because "her granddaughter was singing!" In retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world, especially going on river cruises throughout Europe and visiting her beloved ancestral Ireland, and spending summers at her daughter's beach house.
She is predeceased by her parents John and Rita (Gunther) Leahy, and her brother Jack Leahy.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Jeannine Lonski (David) of East Brunswick, Joseph J. Schuld (Mary) of Farmingdale, and Jeffrey Schuld (Clare) of East Brunswick; and her grandchildren Jonathan and Kathleen Lonski; Joseph, Susan, David, Kelley Prioli (Thomas), Mary and Sarah Schuld; Dustin, Casey (Stephane), Brian and James Schuld.
