Lionel A. McLean, of Somerville, New Jersey, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 70 years old and had just marked his birthday on June 25th.
Born in Manchester, Jamaica, he immigrated to the U.S. in October 30, 1995. He lived in Brooklyn and Franklin Park before moving to Somerville 10 years ago.
Lionel was a barber by profession. Always well dressed and in good spirits, he enjoyed listening to music. His favorite artist was Toots and the Maytals. He also had a keen interest in current events and enjoyed debating news of the day.
He is predeceased by his parents, Gilbert McLean and Gwendolyn (Myles) McLean; his brother George Donald Clarke; and his sister Eulalee Clarke.
Surviving is his brother Winston McLean of Missouri; cousins in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Jamaica, W.I., and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 17th, 11:00 am, at Franklin Memorial Park, Cozzens Lane and Rt. 27, North Brunswick. Lionel will be buried with his brother George immediately following the service at the cemetery. A repass will follow immediately after at Wynnefield at Somerset located at 31 Desoto Dr. in Franklin Park.
