Laszlo Boka, of East Brunswick, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, with his loving family at his side. He was 70 years young.
Born in Tatabanya, Hungary, Laszlo's mother escaped the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, with Laszlo and his brother Joszef, to Austria. From Austria, they ventured to Portugal, where they were united with a benevolent family who cared for Mrs. Boka and her sons. From Portugal, the family of 3 moved to England, where they were reunited with Mr. Boka, Sr. They immigrated as a family of 4 from England to Haverhill, Massachusetts in May of 1959. In the mid sixties, they re-located to Sewaren, New Jersey. After graduating from Woodbridge High School in 1968, Laszlo enlisted and served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After serving 2 tours in Vietnam, he returned home to NJ in May of 1970.
He married his wife Karen in 1973 and they eventually settled down in East Brunswick in 1984, where they raised their family of 3 daughters.
Laszlo retired from his position as a welder from ConocoPhillips in Linden, NJ after 30 years of employment.
He was a long time attendee of the Princeton Alliance Church in Plainsboro, NJ. He loved basketball, football, fishing, listening to and recording music, and had a fascination with "muscle cars". He enjoyed cooking for fun and is especially known for his chili, chicken paprikas and a variety of homemade specialty soups. Most of all, he loved being with his family and grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his parents Laszlo, Sr. and Vilma (Nagy) Boka along with his brother Joszef Boka (d. 1989).
Surviving are his beloved wife of 46 years, Karen (Jensen) Boka, his daughters and sons-in-law Deanna and Eric Martins of Hamilton, NJ, Leslie and Mark Krajnak of Allentown, NJ; and Kristina Boka of East Brunswick; and his grandchildren: Eric Jr. (EJ) and Owen Martins, Olivia, Chase and Matthew Krajnak, and Hayley Boka.
Friends and relatives may call on Saturday, September 7th, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St. – at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A funeral service will be held during the visitation at 3:30 pm. You may sign the online condolence "guestbook" for the family, at www.crabiel.com . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in memory of Laszlo Boka.
