Kenneth M. Abode, of New Brunswick, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at East Orange Veterans Hospital. He was 68.
Born in New Brunswick, he was a lifelong resident. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Kenny was a manager of Equitable Handbags in New Brunswick, for over 30 years. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Knights of Columbus.
A lover of sports, he won several awards in the Paralympics. He was an avid Yankee's and Patriots fan. He enjoyed coaching both of his sons in baseball through the New Brunswick Recreation Department.
He's predeceased by his parents Thomas and Helene Abode, his nephew Anthony Azzi, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Antoine and Eugenie Azzi, and his best friend Gary Klinger.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 47 years, Elaine (Azzi) Abode; his loving sons and daughter-in-laws, Anthony and Tammy of North Brunswick, and Kenneth and Tiffany of Manalapan; his daughter Elaine of New Brunswick; his grandchildren Kenny, Anthony, Michael, Kaitlyn, Alexandra and Frankie; his brothers and sister-in-laws - Michael & Dunia Abode; Edward & Helene Abode; Joseph & Mary Abode; Thomas & Maria Abode, his sisters Elaine and Betty Abode; and several nieces and nephews; and his devoted companion Kody, who was there for him and gave him joy these last few years of his life.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 27th at 10:30 am, at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Somerset. Interment will follow at St. Peters Cemetery in New Brunswick.
