Joy M. Ligotti, of Milltown, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 1, 2024, after a brave long fight against Alzheimer’s. She was 58 year old. She was born in Brooklyn and lived in Deer Park, Long Island, before moving to Milltown 26 years ago.
Joy was an administrative assistant for most of her career. She was a former Milltown Democratic Committeewoman. She was a loyal Mets fan and loved the TV show Friends. She enjoyed cooking and traveling. Most of all, she loved being with her girls and family.
She’s predeceased by her father Martin Friedman.
Surviving is her loving husband, Nicholas Ligotti; her beloved daughters Marissa Visokay (Bill) of Spotswood and Elizabeth Ligotti of Helmetta; her mother Terry (Bronsnick) Friedman of Old Bridge; her brother Mark Friedman (Debbie) of Westfield; her brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Thomas Ligotti (Linda) of Lincroft and Rosann Abano (Sal) of Milltown; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and her precious Bella.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 4th, 10:00 am, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in North Brunswick. Shiva will be observed at the Ligotti home on the following days: Wednesday immediately after the burial until 9:00 pm, with a service at 7:30 pm; Thursday from 6:00 – 9:00 pm and Friday from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association of NJ, www.alznj.org .
