John J. Fraser, formerly of East Brunswick, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Mt. Sinai Hospital in NYC. He was 72.
Born in Staten Island to his parents Joseph and Sarah (Larca) Fraser, he lived in Manhattan and Boston before settling in East Brunswick with his wife and family. He recently retired to his vacation home in Barnegat Light, NJ.
Before retiring in 2021, John spent 16 years as an Assistant Professor of Marketing and Communications at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan. He had previously had a long and successful career in marketing and advertising for agencies such as DeVito-Fitterman, Ogilvy & Mather and DDB Needham. He served as a Senior Vice President for Lintas, handling accounts for IBM, Diet Coke, Lipton Tea and Dixie.
John had a variety of interests. He loved to cook for his family. He also loved history, particularly WWII & local history, and enjoyed science-fiction. He had a deep love of cinema, as well as obscure Hollywood lore. He recently rediscovered his childhood love of DC Comics through his son-in-law Michael.
John is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lauren (Weiner) Fraser; his daughters Carrie Ferraro (Michael) of Milltown NJ and Jamie Fraser (Leigh LaHood) of Rockville, MD; his brother Louis Fraser of Staten Island and his sister Loretta Marsh of The Villages, Florida; and his 3 grandsons: Grant and Colin Ferraro and Ezra LaHood.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, September 23rd, from 12:00 – 3:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Mt. Sinai Hospital.
