John "Big John" Krajceck, of Milltown, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Somerset Woods in Somerset. He was 79.
Born and raised in South River, he's lived in Milltown most of his life.
After graduating from South River High School in 1957, John joined the United States Army and graduated from the Military Police School. He was in the United States Army from 1957 – 1960, and was assigned to the Presidential Executive Flight Detachment for President Dwight Eisenhower.
John, or "Big John" as he was affectionately known, was a Milltown Police officer for 28 years, before retiring in 2001.
After his retirement from the Milltown Police Department, he devoted 12 years to St. Thomas the Apostle school as a bingo worker and a part time security guard.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary of Ostrabama Church in South River and a member of the American Legion Post 25 in Milltown. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He's predeceased by his beloved wife Camille (Wohanka) Krajceck (d. 2003) and his brother Charles Krajceck.
Surviving is his daughter Pamela Garrido, owner of Platinum Graphics; his grandchildren Zackary and Skylar Abbey; his brother and sister-in-law James and Sandy Krajceck of Kentucky; his sister-in-law Patricia Wohanka of Coconut Creek, FL; his sister-in-law Barbara Krajceck of Spotswood; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Gene and Janis Wohanka of Edison; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, 9:00 am, at St. Mary of Ostrabama Church, 30 Jackson Street, South River. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in East Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, October 30th, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Mary of Ostrabama Church.
