Joanne Skidmore passed away on January 4th, 2023, at the age of 73. Born on January 12th, 1949, to William and Catherine Phillips in Wilkes-Barre, PA. She attended New Brunswick High School, graduating in 1966. She then went on to attend Middlesex County College. After college she held several jobs, she retired from The Whitman Company in East Brunswick as a bookkeeper, prior to that she worked for 14 years in various positions at HIP in New Brunswick, and before that Sears in New Brunswick.
She meet her husband Jan at New Brunswick High School. After getting married they moved to Milltown in 1971.
Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, reading, going to the beach, listening to music, walking, and her grand dogs Vince and Savvy. She was a long time member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in South River where she had been the church treasurer and assisted with Youth Church.
Joanne is pre-deceased by her husband Jan Skidmore (2004), parents William and Catherine Phillips, and brother Robert Thompson. She is survived by her son Jason Skidmore (Lisa Hague) of Milltown, daughter Jean Compton (Eric) of Milltown. Also her step-grandson Daniel Canto of Milltown. Her brother William Phillips (Martha) of Old Bridge. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Rosemary Thompson of Fairless Hills, PA.
A visitation for Joanne will be on Thursday January 12th, 2023, 2:00 - 4:00pm & 6:00 - 8:00pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main Street-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral service will be held on Friday January 13th, 2023, at 10:00 am, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals. Interment is private. You may sign the online guestbook www.crabiel.com.
