Joan Szeliga, formerly of Milltown, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at Chelsea Senior Living in Toms River, NJ. She was 87. Born in Highland Park, she lived in Milltown most of her life.
She was a customer service representative at Caswell Massey in Edison for 16 years, retiring in 2003. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown and a member of the Milltown Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Joan enjoyed word search puzzles, reading and playing Mahjong. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved being with her family.
She's predeceased by her husband Richard Szeliga (d. 1983), her son-in-law Gerard Cappella (d. 2020) her parents Reno and Mary Casagrande, and her sisters Rose Pirre (d. 2022) and Janet Kokoszka (d. 2014).
Surviving is her daughter Diana Cappella of Toms River, her son Richard Szeliga (Rosa) of South Plainfield, and her daughter Deborah Pagan (Danny) of Kendall Park; 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may call on Sunday, November 20th, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, N.Main St., Milltown. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Milltown Fire Department or Alzheimer's Association.
