Jacob Laurie

March 17, 1925 — June 16, 2018

Jacob Laurie, of New Brunswick, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018 at home. He was 93.

Born in New Brunswick, he lived there most of his life.

Jacob served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was stationed in the South Pacific Island Hoping Campaign. He was a member of the VFW in New Brunswick and the Jewish War Veterans.

Before retiring, he was a Principal for the Newcomb Junior School in Cherry Hill. Previously he was a science teacher for Bound Brook and Sayreville. He graduated from the Panzer School (now Montclair University), and received his Master's in education from Rutgers University.

Jacob enjoyed exercising and was going to the gym until he was 92 years old. He was a pistol marksman at the South River Pistol Club. He was Vice President of the Mid-Atlantic Koi Club.

He's predeceased by his wife Helen V. (Kane) Laurie (d. 2012), and his brother Lou and sisters Rose and Viola.

Surviving are his sons: Richard of California, Jack of Monroe, David of Milltown and James of New Brunswick; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 18th, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Burial will follow at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge.
