Jack M. Taormina, of North Brunswick, passed away Monday, February 6, 2023, at home. He was 79. Born in New Brunswick and raised in Somerset, he attended New Brunswick High School and graduated in 1962. He lived in North Brunswick for the past 48 years with his beautiful wife Mary until her passing in 2022.
Jack was a Detective with the New Brunswick Police Department for 20 years, retiring in 1990. After retirement he began his second career as a top salesman for Malouf Auto Group for the next 27 years until officially retiring in 2017.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Peace RC Church in North Brunswick. He was a 4th Degree Knight and Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 6572 in New Brunswick. He was also a member of the Italian American Club in North Brunswick.
Jack was a true "car guy" and the proud owner over a dozen corvettes throughout his life and was a member of the Spirits of '53 Corvette Club. In his youth he enjoyed racing cars on Livingston Avenue, hanging out at the South End Garage and at the Silver Fox Sweet Shoppe where he met his future wife Mary. Jack loved good Italian food, word searches, tinkering in his garage, reading and especially enjoyed a good political discussion.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary (Higgins) Taormina (d. Feb 2022) and his parents Jack and Mary (Benanti) Taormina. They are now all reunited in Heaven.
Surviving is his son Thomas Taormina (Daria) of East Windsor, his daughter Kelli Williams (Greg) of Milltown, his beloved grandchildren Ava, Antonia, Mia and Dean, his sisters Josephine Booth of Florida, Rosemary Diminick (Joe) of Minnesota and Kathleen Taylor of Monroe Twp., and his brother Robert Taormina (Sherri) of China as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may call on Saturday, February 11th, from 12:00 – 3:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Blessing will be held during the visitation at 2:15 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital www.stjude.org.
