Mary Chackal, a beloved pharmacist and a nurturing figure to many, departed this world on August 2, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on July 13, 1945, she spent most of her time between Lebanon and Egypt until she migrated to the United States with her husband and her daughter Ketty in the early 1970s. Her journey was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family.
Mary's gentle spirit resonated throughout her life, characterized by her caring nature and an innate ability to make those around her feel special. As a devoted mother, she took tremendous pride in raising her daughters, Ketty Ayoub, Terry, and her son, Jerry Chackal. The warmth of her love extended further with the joy she found in her grandchildren, Joe and Ziggy, who were fortunate to bask in their grandmother’s affection and countless cherished moments.
Within the fabric of her familial tapestry are the threads of her sisters, Marcelle and Micheline, as well as her brother Edmond, each of whom will remember Mary for her loving heart and joyful spirit. While she found solace in watching Arab Soap Operas and played the piano with grace, it was the bonds she forged with her family that remained her proudest accomplishment.
Mary will be deeply missed by her loved ones, including her daughters Ketty Ayoub and her husband Joseph, Terry Chackal. Together, they will carry forward the values and love she instilled in them.
Those who have departed from this world ahead of her include her cherished son, Jerry Chackal, who left this realm in 2017, her devoted husband, Helmy Chackal passed in 2023, and her dear siblings, brothers Joseph, Bernard and Khalil, all of whom await her in eternal rest.
Mary's visitation will take place on August 6, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church in Franklin Township, NJ. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00 PM at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway, NJ, where family and friends will gather to celebrate the beautiful life of a remarkable woman.
As we honor Mary Chackal's legacy, let us remember her not only for her steadfast dedication to her family and profession but also for the immeasurable joy and love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will forever shine brightly in our hearts. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church.
