Gretta Q. Zorn, passed away Thursday December 13, 2018, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. She was 89.
Gretta was born in Bridgeport Connecticut. She attended West Chester State Teachers College, in Pennsylvania, where she met her future husband, Frank W. Zorn. They married in 1951 and moved to North Brunswick after accepting teaching positions there. Gretta began her career as a third grade teacher at Parsons School, and also worked as a home instructor for the district. In later years, she taught English, Latin and math in middle and high schools in Metuchen, Westfield and Edison.
Gretta enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. She was a voracious reader, a talented seamstress and a lover of the arts and nature. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association in East Brunswick.
Mrs. Zorn was predeceased by her husband, Frank, her sister, Cecily Waclawski, and her son-in-law, Charles Singer. She is survived by her daughters Karen Homeyer, and her husband, William of Monroe, and Wendy Zorn of New Brunswick; her grandson, Nathan Pett and great grandson, Tyr Zorn Pett; her sister, Audrey Ginn of Albuquerque, New Mexico, her sister-in-law, Mary Louise Hemmerly of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, December 20th, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals 170 North Main Street-at Riva Avenue, Milltown from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, with a Memorial Service at 6:30.
