Gertrude Shutt, of North Brunswick, passed away Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Cranbury Care Center in Monroe Twp. She was 93. Born and raised in New Brunswick, she lived most of her life in North Brunswick.
Gertrude was a cook for over 20 years for the Court Tavern in New Brunswick, before retiring. Previously she had worked for a bakery and a toothpaste factory.
She enjoyed exercising with Jack LaLanne and Tai Chi yoga. She was a member of the Mid State Bowling League and doing word search puzzles. Gertrude was a wonderful cook and a very kind and generous lady.
She's predeceased by her husband Daniel Shutt Sr. (d. 2006), her daughter Mary Teachen (d. 2001), her son David Shutt (d. 2018), her parents Fredrick and Jennie Rodriguez and her sister Andrea Timmans.
Surviving is her son Daniel Shutt Jr. of North Brunswick, her daughter Diane Shutt of Alburtis, PA; her brother Fred Rodriguez of Edison, her sisters Monica Brennsinger and Gloria Caldwell, both of Piscataway; 9 grandchildren – Jodie, Liz, Sam, Gabriella, Brandon, Daniella, John, Caroline and Dave; and 14 great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may call on Monday, September 13th, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Entombment will take place on Tuesday, 11:00 am, at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick.
