George F. Rasch, Jr.

George F. Rasch, Jr. of Old Bridge passed away after a brief illness on October 14th 2024, with his loving family by his side. He was 74. Born in Newark, grew up in South River and moved Old Bridge where lived for 47 years.

George served in the United States Navy as a Radarman during the Vietnam era. He was proud of his service and his many family members who also served and still serve in the military. He was a member of the American Legion Post 0177 and the VFW Post 0708.

He was a production supervisor for Hostess Cakes in East Brunswick, for 23 years, retiring in 1999. He always shared stories of his time working and the many friends he worked with.

Nothing made George more proud than his family. He loved his children and seeing his 14 grandchildren grow. He loved family gatherings, parties and all of the attention from the kids as he playfully interacted with them all.

Predeceased by his parents George F. Rasch SR and Mona (McGovern) Rasch, Robert Miller and Dorothy Miller, his in-laws, Thomas and Lorraine Franken, his sister, Amaryllis Williams and his brother-in-law, Ronald DeVito.

Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Barbara Ann (Franken) Rasch; his children George F. Rasch III (Rebecca) of North Canton, OH, Nancy Kitchen (Terry) of Binghamton NY, Patricia Bozza (Daniel) of Howell and Andrew Rasch (Veronica) of Brick, his brother James Miller (Margaret) of Spotswood, and 14 grandchildren Karla (Jonathon), Nicole, Morgan, Lucy, Benjamin, Margaret, George IV, Adeline, Isabella, Lydia, Hadley, Evelyn, Carlyn and Ava. As well as his many In-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

George had a special place in his heart for his many pets. From dogs and cats to fish and birds, there was never an animal who didn’t love him.

He also enjoyed camping, watching soccer and hockey and traveling to see his children.

Friends and relatives may call on Thursday, October 17th, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown, NJ 08850. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, 10:00 am, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 100 Main St., Helmetta. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans of America at DAV.org .
