Geeta Sahni

Our loving mumma, Mrs Geeta Sahni, wife of Late Dr. Shravan Kumar Sahni passed away on the evening of Friday December 24th at the age of 77, surrounded by her beloved family. Mom was born in Rawalpindi India to parents Ramnath & Swaran Lata Chopra.
Mom's siblings will remember her as a loving and mischievous middle child, who also was the one who kept the family together.. True to her name, Geeta, she was a devout Hindu and held a practical approach to spirituality.
Both mummy and papa believed that "by fulfilling one's duty, and detaching oneself from the fruits of action, one is liberated from the cycle of birth and death, and ascends to the Indestructible State that is free from all bonds…" - and they lived it. Mom taught English in Delhi (RM Arya School) for her career, working up to retiring as the esteemed principal of the school.
Born and raised in India, mumma moved to America in 2010. After moving she took the responsibility of keeping the grandchildren grounded about what mattered and educating them about their roots. We have amazing memories with mumma, vacationing in and outside the US and enjoying some quality food experiences in NJ and NY. Mom had a sweet tooth - the grandkids have experienced overnight vanishing brownies, lemon heads, and lindt chocolates.
She is survived by her daughters, granddaughters, and sons-in-law. Bhavana Sahni Arya, Vivek Arya, Natasha Arya, Nikita Arya of NJ & Ekta Sahni, Karthik Viswanathan, Trisha Viswanathan, Tanya Viswanathan, Mojo (golden retriever) of NY. She will forever live in the hearts of her siblings Sunita Sawhney, V.K Chopra, Nirupama Jauhar and their families and her in-laws Late S.D. Sahni, R Sahni, S.K. Sahni, S.V. Sahni, Late Indu Malik, and their families across US, Europe, and India.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by The Crabiel Home for Funerals. Funeral service will take place at Franklin Memorial Park 1800 Route 27, North Brunswick 08902 (Zoom option below) on Tuesday December 28th at 9:30 - 11:30AM EST (8-10PM IST). Followed by shanti path at Durga Mandir 4240 NJ-27, Princeton NJ (do not go to main temple, proceed to adjacent building).
