Fred W. Mueller

Fred W. Mueller, of Milltown, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 87 years old.

Born in Harrisburg PA, to Frederick and Ruth (LaCron) Mueller, he was raised in Lancaster. His father died tragically on the USS Franklin during World War II.

Fred was a great baseball player during high school and was recruited by the Pittsburgh Pirates, but decided to pursue a college degree instead. He played both baseball and basketball while attending Gettysburg College. He received a Master's in Statistics from Rutgers University. He served in the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. He and his wife Jackie moved to Milltown 60 years ago.

He worked for Bristol Meyer’s in Hillside for 35 years, retiring as Department Head of Statistics. Fred was a sports fan, especially Rutgers football and women’s basketball. He was a member of the Touchdown Club. He also was an avid Mets and Giants fan, and enjoyed photography.

He is predeceased by his son Craig Mueller (d. 2006), his father Frederick W. Mueller Jr., his mother and step-father Ruth (La Cron) and Harold Moyer, and his sister Jeanne Osgood.

Surviving is his loving wife of 64 years, Jackie (Russo) Mueller, his daughter Kelly Moro of Pembroke Pines FL, his son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Toni Mueller, his grandchildren Zach and Nick Moro, and Jordan and Lucas Mueller, and his beloved cat Tommy.

A Blessing will be held on Friday, October 2nd, 11:00 am, at Holy Cross Burial Park mausoleum chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Milltown Rescue Squad or Make a Wish Foundation.
