Felix Bobe Jr.

Felix Bobe passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at the age of 86. Born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, his family moved to New York when he was 11. While living in NY, he met the love of his life, served in the Army during Vietnam, drove a taxicab, owned a hardware store, owned a liquor store near Yankee Stadium, and started a family. Although most people would assume meeting his wife and starting a family was the highlight of that chapter, he told more stories about the Yankees visiting his liquor store than of his family. Specifically, how during one visit Mickey Mantle autographed a ball Felix previously caught. We may never know if it was a foul ball or a home run ball, because the story changed each time it was told. In 1980, Felix moved his family to Piscataway, NJ, where his daughters loved nothing more than playing outside with his prized Mickey Mantle autographed ball.

Felix was a hard worker and would hold multiple jobs at once to make ends meet whenever needed. Whether he was running a business, delivering newspapers, or on the road as a gourmet food salesman, he would do anything to support his family.

Although Felix loved his wife and daughters, his proudest accomplishments were his grandchildren. After a few years of particularly poor health, he found the will to continue because he wanted more time with “his” kids.

Felix is survived by Leonor, his wife of 60 years; his daughters, Lisa Jarusiewicz of East Brunswick and Olivia (Kevin) Lawless of Milltown; his grandchildren Paige and Abigail Jarusiewicz, and Reid, Ethan, and Drew Lawless, and his brother Paul Bobe of Puerto Rico. He was preceded in death by his parents Josefa and Felix Bobe Sr., his brother Mickey Bobe, and his sister Emma Cortes.

A Visitation for family and friends, will be held on Monday, September 21st, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Ave, Milltown. A Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, 9:30 am, at St. Bartholomew RC Church, Ryders Lane, East Brunswick.
