Elizabeth A. Loftus, formerly of Milltown, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021 at Arista Care at Cedar Oaks in South Plainfield. She was 85.
Born in South Amboy, she was raised in South River and lived in Milltown for over 40 years. She resided in Ocean Beach before moving to Edison 5 years ago.
Betty was an account secretary for the Boys Scouts of America for 25 years, before retiring.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church in Milltown and their cheerleading coach for many years. She loved college basketball, especially Rutgers and Duke, and was a Giants football fan.
She's predeceased by her daughters Colleen Loftus (d. 1998) and Kathleen Malinconico (d. Sept, 2021), and her parents Henry and Rose (Ust) Wenzel.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 64 years, Ronald J. Loftus; her daughter and son-in-law Eileen and Christopher Jennings of Avenel; her son-in-law Salvatore Malinconico of Edison; her grandchildren Meghan (Patrick) Murphy, Michael LaPlaga (fiancée Allison Chapman), Jillian and Christopher Jennings, Michael (Melissa) Malinconico and Nicole (Raymond) Lalley; and 8 great grandchildren.
Friends and relatives may call on Monday, December 20th, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Mass will be held on Tuesday, 10:00 am, at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, North Main St., Milltown. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick.
