Elizabeth Camamis Benson, of Milltown NJ went to be with her LORD on Monday, February 2, 2026, after a lengthy period of declining health. She was 75 years old. She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Mark Benson of Milltown, her daughter Caitlin Brooke Benson of Edison, her daughter Debra Meghan Benson and her grandchildren Jack Nicholas Ferrier and Daphne Mae Ferrier of Milltown, her brother Peter Camamis (Debra) of Monroe Twp., her sister Emily Verdi of East Brunswick, and her sister Melanie Herbert (Tom) of Freehold.
She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. and friends scattered across the country
She was predeceased by her parents, Louis Camamis and Theodora (Kalatzis) Camamis of North Brunswick, NJ
Liz had a life of stability in the midst of changing circumstances. She was born again into the family of God as a young person and remained firmly in that position all her life.
She graduated from New Brunswick High School class of 1968, spent a year at Houghton College, in upstate NY, graduated from Helene Fuld School of Nursing in Trenton, and later earned a B.S. from Northeastern University in Boston.
She worked as a Registered Nurse and held many nursing positions; operating room, surgical day care, Cardiac care, dialysis, hospice, visiting nurse, nursing home in many facilities and 3 states.
During her married life, she lived in 4 states, 10 towns, and 15 homes, but always made a refuge for her family.
Liz loved jewelry and many crafts, and always had a collection going, Yorketown dishes, Jadeite kitchenware, vintage tablecloths, and cookie jars. She was a scrapbooker focusing on her family. She also enjoyed reading devotional books. Some favorite authors included Joni Eareckson Tada, Max Lucado, and Anne Graham Lotz
She belonged to several churches as she moved from place to place, Grace Chapel in Lexington MA. Faith Baptist Church in Manchester NH. Raritan Valley Baptist Church in Edison NJ and Colts Neck Community Church in Colts Neck NJ. While unable to attend in recent years due to poor health, she maintained friendships with many people through phone calls.
Family and friends may visit with the family on Monday, February 9th, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Memorial Service will be held during the visitation at 5:30 pm.
Liz was a long-term supporter of World Vision and St Jude’s Hospital. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial contribution to either.
