Elias Hreiz

Elias Hreiz of Hamilton Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Hamilton. He was 89. Born in Zahle Lebanon, he came to the United States in 1983. He lived in Jackson before moving to Hamilton 26 years ago.

While living in Lebanon he was a municipal guard for the city of Zahle. He retired as a general contractor for Tyree Organization in Burlington Twp. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Sharbel Maronite Church in Somerset.

Elias enjoyed gardening and being with family and friends around the fire pit at home. He was a wonderful grandfather who loved helping his grandchildren, especially with their math homework.

He’s predeceased by his parents Toufic and Hanneh (Abedalahad) Hreiz, his brothers Joseph and George, and his sisters Georgette and Nohad.

Surviving is his loving wife of 66 years, Isabelle (Brax) Hreiz, his sons and daughters-in-law Adel and Amy Hreiz of Quakertown, PA, Camille and Chadia Hreiz, Ibrahim and Roberta Hreiz and Rabih and Silvana Hreiz, all of Hamilton Twp., 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be held on Friday, August 16th, 10:00 am at St. Sharbel Maronite Catholic Church, 256 Easton Avenue, Somerset Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Piscataway. A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at St. Sharbel’s. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either St. Sharbel’s Church or the Zahle Club of New York Official.
