Dorothy (Petty) Baird Schroff, formerly of East Brunswick and Milltown, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune. She was 90.
She's predeceased by her first husband Leonard Baird Jr. (d. 1972) and her 2nd husband Edward Schroff (d. 2000). She's also predeceased by her children Leonard Charles Baird III (d. 1954), baby Cynthia Marie (d. 1957) and her son Daniel J. Baird (d. 2014).
Surviving is her daughter Kathy Baird of Neptune City, and her dear friend Anthony Primo; her brother-in-law Edward Baird, and his wife Barbara, and their children Jackie and Eddie Baird; her sister-in-law Nancy Timmerman and her children Jeanne and Jeffrey Baird; her daughter-in-law Joanne Baird; and her step-children and their families Nancy Bock, Eileen Snyder and her husband Spence, and Eddie Schroff
Born in New Brunswick, she grew up on the Petty Farm in East Brunswick. She lived in East Brunswick and Milltown, before moving to Neptune City 18 years ago.
She retired from the East Brunswick Board of Education, where she was an administrative assistant at the High School Library.
Dot was very involved with the East Brunswick Historical Society. She donated a numerous artifacts from the Petty farm and received their "40 Treasurers of 40 Years" award. She was currently in the process of writing her life story, "A True Story of a Farmer's Daughter".
She was a founding member of the Brookview Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the St. Paul's Church in Milltown, the Milltown Historical Society, the Milltown Seniors Citizens Club and the Milltown Quilters. Dot was well known for her quilting and donated the Centennial Quilt to Milltown Borough Hall.
She also was a member of the Red Hats Society in both East Brunswick and Ocean Grove. In Ocean Grove she was a member of the Senior Citizens and St. Paul's Church and it's Ladies Auxiliary of the Auditorium and United Methodist Women.
She enjoyed numerous crafting activities, decorating, scrapbooking, cake decorating, gardening and especially quilting and handiwork.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 2nd, 11:00 am, at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday starting at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
