Dorothy A. Peterson, formerly of East Brunswick, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Wednesday, May 8th, 2024, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick at the age of 95. Born in the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge, NJ, she lived in Collinsville, IL and Iselin, NJ before moving to East Brunswick in 1968. After leaving East Brunswick, she moved to Clearbrook in Monroe Twp., NJ.
She worked for First Fidelity Bank for 13 years before retiring. She and her late husband Raymond were active in the Rutgers Scarlet R Club, the Touchdown Club, and the Cagers Club.
Dot enjoyed European river cruises, vacationing in Cape Cod, Rutgers Football and Women’s Basketball and swimming. She also enjoyed having family gatherings for the Holidays. She especially enjoyed visiting family in Hudson Ohio, and then later visits from her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dot was a kind, generous, and helpful person and an especially loving wife, parent, grandparent, and great grandparent.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond A. Peterson (d. 2013), and her parents John and Margaret (Sanders) Bartos.
Surviving are her loving sons, Glenn R. Peterson of Monroe Twp., and Jeffrey J. Peterson (Margaret “Lou” Coffey) of Durham, NC; her beloved grandchildren Jennifer Lyzen (Frank, III) of Raleigh, NC and Bryan Peterson of Holly Springs, NC; and her great grandchildren Austin and Carter.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 15th from 9:30 – 11:30 am at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Blessing will be held at 12 noon at Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum in East Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
