Dorothy Leonard, 97, passed away peacefully at home on February 6th, 2020. Dorothy was born with her twin sister Marjorie in Queens, New York in 1922 to her immigrant father Michael , and Louise (Hart) Grimes. Her twin predeceased her in 2014. She lived in Kendall Park and East Brunswick before moving to the Rossmoor section of Monroe Township in 2000 with her husband, John "Jack" Leonard who passed in 2002.
Prior to her retirement in 1988, Dorothy spent many years in customer service positions. She loved knitting, cooking, word puzzles and vacationing at the Jersey Shore. Her family will cherish the poems and special occasion toasts she composed over the years, including the jingle she wrote for her husband's softball team. Seeing Jack and Dot on the dance floor, and the wonderful dinners and barbeques with family and friends will never be forgotten.
Surviving are her daughters, Nancy Williams of East Brunswick, Christine Goff and her husband Michael of Spotswood, and Lorraine Wallace of Old Bridge as well as the loves of her life, Grandchildren Ryan Williams and his wife Shannon of Brooklyn, and Christopher Williams of Morristown. She is also survived by her beloved brother-in-law, Ed Camus and her twin sister's six children and their families.
Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, February 11th from 5:00-8:00PM at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N. Main Street at Riva Avenue in Milltown. On Wednesday, February 12th, calling hour will start at 10:00 AM, with a Blessing at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park in East Brunswick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which was Dorothy's favorite charity.
