Consuelo Avila Colindres, of Somerset, passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at Beth Israel Hospital in Newark. She was 75.
Born in Progresso, Yoro, Honduras, she came to the United States in 1992. She lived in New Brunswick before moving to Somerset.
Consuelo, a warrior woman, dedicated her life to her family. She was the matriarch and heart of us all. Consuelo raised her six children and several of her grandchildren as her own. Despite the many hurdles of being a single parent, she remained focused on providing a suitable upbringing for her children. Even once her children were grown, she continued to dedicate herself to the family by watching over the grandchildren and great grandchildren. However, Consuelo's love did not stop there. Her caring and loving personality created a feeling of home for many not just her own family members. She had a sense of taking people under her wing and providing them with a love that they never imagined. This blessed Consuelo with a family that seemed to have no end. Consuelo will always remain in her family's heart
