Chia-Lan Lee was a beautiful, loving, brilliant wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in northeastern China in 1922. She graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Northwest University in Xi’an, where she met her future husband Chun-Ting Lee. They were married in 1945. In 1949 she, her husband, and their baby daughter Reenie, along with her parents and some siblings emigrated to Taiwan. While living in Taiwan, their family expanded to include a son, Peter, a middle daughter, Lydia, and a youngest daughter, Mayling.

In 1987 she and her husband emigrated to the US, where all four of her children then resided, and they moved into a home in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Chia-Lan enjoyed Chinese brush painting and was an avid (and accomplished) Mahjong player. After her husband passed away in 2002 she lived on her own for 8 years in a senior apartment in Highland Park. She has always been an independent and capable person. She moved to Rose Mountain Care Center in 2010, where she was able to join an active Chinese community and continue to play Mahjong with friends on a near daily basis.

Chia-Lan passed away peacefully on January 13, 2025, at age 102. She is survived by her younger brother Chia-Dann Chi, her four children, three grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. She will be missed but will be remembered with a smile for all who knew and loved her.
