Charles J. Jegou, of Milltown, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 83.
Born at home in Milltown, he lived there all of his life. He served in the United States Army from 1961-1967. He worked as an electrician for Schweitzer-Mauduit International in Spotswood, for over 40 years, retiring in 1998.
Charlie was a volunteer for the Edison Wetlands and a founding member of the Milltowners for a Sensible Ford Avenue Redevelopment. He coached baseball and travel soccor in Milltown and was very active in the Boy Scouts.
He enjoyed sailing, windsurfing, jetsking, fishing and spending time on the beach in Long Beach Island. He was a Ford car enthusiast and Nascar fan who loved restoring antique cars, building hot rods and racing dragsters. He also loved working on home improvement projects.
He's predeceased by his parents Jean and Marie Jegou, his sister Lucienne Creighton, and his brothers John, Marcel, Robert, and Eugene Peter Jegou.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Carol (Wolff) Jegou; his sons and daughter-in-laws James and Christine Jegou of Milltown, Gregory and Ivy Jegou of Neptune, and Thomas and Dalorady Jegou of Marlboro; his brother and sister-in-laws Raymond and Marlene Jegou of Milltown and Tina Jegou of East Brunswick; and 7 grandchildren Amanda, Nicholas, Matthew, Danielle, Ashley, Madison and Noah.
Friends and relatives may call on Tuesday, October 5th, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 N Main St.-at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Blessing will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in North Brunswick.
