Chandrakant B. Desai, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on December 10, 1934, Chandrakant devoted his life to his family, his work, and his community.
A man of many interests and quiet strengths, Chandrakant pursued his education with diligence, earning a bachelor’s degree in India- an achievement he held in high regard, especially as he encouraged his children’s futures. He began his professional career as a Customs Officer in Bhavnagar before returning home to care for his ailing father. It was there that he joined the Indian Railways, serving faithfully as a guard for more than 35 years. Alongside his professional life, he remained deeply committed to farming and to providing for his family. He had a keen interest in politics and sports and generously volunteered his time and efforts toward the betterment of his community.
Chandrakant has now been reunited with his beloved wife, Ushaben Desai, who passed away in 2022. Married for 59 years, their relationship was a testament to enduring love, devotion, and partnership. Though he deeply mourned her loss, he carried her spirit with him, upholding the values and love they shared throughout their life together.
Above all else, Chandrakant cherished time with his family. He found immense joy in being surrounded by his siblings, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild, and his face would light up in their presence. He is survived by his devoted son Ajay Desai and his wife Manjri of New Jersey; son Samir Desai and his wife Neha of Delaware; and daughter Pratixa Naik and her husband Chetan of Philadelphia. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren- Raj, Alyssa, Rachel, and Dev Desai; Mirav and Miral Naik; and Devanshi Naik Patel- as well as his cherished great-grandchild, Navya Patel, who brought him immense pride and joy.
A Pooja service will be held in his honor on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick Township, New Jersey, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to gather to celebrate the remarkable life of a man who lived with grace, strength, humility, and unconditional love. Chandrakant will be deeply missed, but his kindness, warmth, and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
